Brazilian-American heavy metal band Soulfly was founded in 1997 in Los Angeles, California, and later operated out of Phoenix, Arizona. Max Cavalera, a former frontman for Sepultura, founded Soulfly after leaving the Brazilian band in 1996. Twelve studio albums, a tour EP, twenty-three singles, a video album, and twelve music videos have all been published by the band to far. Their most recent album, Totem, was published on August 5, 2022, while their first album, Soulfly, was released on April 21, 1998.

Soulfly, like Cavalera's previous band Sepultura, combines a variety of metal genres with Brazilian tribal and world music. Later albums included other subjects like war, brutality, aggression, enslavement, hatred, and rage. The initial lyrics focused on spirituality, politics, and religion. Their second album, Primitive, peaked at number 32 on the US Billboard 200, where all six of their first studio albums debuted. The Recording Industry Association of America awarded Soulfly a Gold certification.
I had the privilage of watching Mark Rizzo from Soulfly perform the Ambassadors Studio in Hackensack NJ. Two months ago. His guitar playing really is amazing. If you're in the local Northern New Jersey area, don't forget to check him out. His riff
playing was very rocking as I saw him play front center row in a solo on his new guitar.
