Deftones My Own Summer Rocksmith
Deftones My Own Summer Rocksmith - The American alternative metal group Deftones was founded in Sacramento, California, in 1988. They were founded by Dominic Garcia (bass), Stephen Carpenter (drums), Abe Cunningham (drums), and Chino Moreno (vocals, guitar). The band's line-up changed frequently throughout their first five years, but settled in 1993 after Cunningham returned after leaving in 1990; at this point, Chi Cheng was the bassist. Except for the addition of keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado in 1999, the lineup stayed the same for fifteen years. Some commentators have referred to the group as "the Radiohead of meta" because of their experimental character.

Since the band's inception, nine albums have been released. After settling on a lineup in 1993, the group signed a recording deal with Maverick Records, and in 1995, Adrenaline, their debut album, was made available. Deftones managed to build a devoted fan base through word of mouth by aggressively touring in support of the album with other bands in the scene. In 1997, the band's second album, Around the Fur, was published. It achieved chart positions and was the group's first to receive RIAA certification. With their third album White Pony (2000), which marked a shift away from their previous, more aggressive sound and toward a more experimental approach, the band garnered even more success. Perhaps their best song is its lead hit, "Change (In the House of Flies)".
Saturday Night Wrist, the band's fifth studio album, was released in 2006. Although well praised, the album's recording was hampered by artistic conflicts and band members' personal problems, some of which had an impact on the music. Cheng was engaged in a car accident in 2008, when Deftones were working on an album that was rumored to be called Eros. He was consequently kept in a barely cognizant state up to his 2013 cardiac arrest death. Following Cheng's incident, Deftones put a stop to Eros' manufacturing. Cheng was replaced on tour by Quicksand bassist Sergio Vega, who later took over as Cheng's permanent replacement despite Vega's claims that he was never an official member.

Stephen Carpenter, then 15 years old, was skating when he was struck by an automobile. He started teaching himself how to play the guitar by imitating the songs of thrash metal bands like Anthrax, Stormtroopers of Death, and Metallica while confined to a wheelchair for several months. According to a persistent urban legend, Carpenter received a monetary settlement from the driver that allowed the band to buy equipment. However, Abe Cunningham stated in a 2007 interview that the settlement rumor was untrue.
